Anna Rita Gemmabella - 2001, 2003, 2004

Winner of several italian and international competitions, she made her debut in 1999 in the title role of Cimarosa’s La finta Parigina producted by Opera Laboratorio Teatro Massimo in Palermo. In 2000 she sang in the role of Zita in Gianni Schicchi and as Cristina in I pazzi per progetto, staged at Festival Donizetti in Bergamo. In 2001 she made her debut in many Rossini-roles such as Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia in Lisboa, Melibea in Il viaggio a Reims in Strasbourg, Aspasia in La pietra del paragone in Wildbad.
She then sang the Rossini’s cantata Giovanna d’Arco in Palermo and Napoli. In the same year she performed in Stuttgart again in Donizetti’s I pazzi per progetto, at Teatro Regio in Torino in Stravinskij’s Pulcinella and she took part in the first contemporary performance of Simone Mayr’s Werther.
During 2002 she faced more Rossini’s operas such as Tancredi (Isaura) at Teatro San Carlo in Napoli, Maometto II (Calbo) in Wildbad, La Cenerentola (Angelina) at Teatro Verdi in Salerno and La Petite Messe Solennelle in Genova conducted by Bruno Campanella. In the same year she met with outstanding success at the Teatro Massimo in Palermo as Romeo in Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi.
In 2003 she made her debut at Teatro alla Scala under the baton of Riccardo Muti in Rossini’s Moïse et Pharaon, interpreting the role of Marie. Among her engagements in that season it worth mentioning the debuts in the roles of Fidalma in Cimarosa’s Matrimonio segreto in Messina, Arsace in Semiramide at the Berlin Deutsche Oper and at the Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Carlotta in Rossini’s Torvaldo e Dorliska in Wildbad. She then sang Vivaldi’s Gloria at Ravello Festival and she was engaged for Pacini’s Corsaro at Teatro Regio in Parma. She also appeared in several Rossini’s operas: Il viaggio a Reims staged by Dario Fo at the Teatro Carlo Felice di Genova; Le Comte Ory (Ragonde) at the Teatro Comunale in Bologna and at the Teatro Valli in Reggio Emilia; Ciro in Babilonia (title role) in Wildbad; Il Turco in Italia at the Teatro San Carlo in Napoli; Maometto II at the Teatro La Fenice in Venezia; La Cenerentola at Teatro Politeama in Lecce; Il viaggio a Reims in Reggio Calabria. She moreover performed in Bach’s B minor Mass at the Festival de Musique Sacrée in Nice.
In the last seasons she sang in La Petite Messe Solennelle at Teatro Comunale in Firenze, La Gioconda (La cieca) at Arena in Verona, Verdi’s Requiem and Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro at Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Tancredi at Teatro Comunale in Firenze, the role of Bramante in Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso in Genova, Mozart’s La Betulia liberata at Pomeriggi Musicali in Milano, La clemenza di Tito (Sesto) in Fidenza, La Cenerentola at the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genova, Donizetti’s C minor Mass at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona, Rossini’s Stabat Mater in Sofia, Le nozze di Figaro in Lugano. In 2006/2007 season she has sung the role of Dorabella in Così fan tutte at the Hamburgische Staatsoper and in Piacenza, Nabucco (Fenena) at the Teatro delle Muse in Ancona, Così fan tutte (Dorabella) and Mozart’s Requiem at the New Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv. She has just sang Pedrotti’s Tutti in maschera in Savona, Piacenza, Rovigo and Orfeo ed Euridice (Orfeo) again in Savona.
Anna Rita Gemmabella’s future engagements include Samson et Dalila (Dalila) at the Teatro Politeama in Lecce, Wolf-Ferrari’s I quatro rusteghi in Toulouse, Mozart’s Requiem in Firenze, Vivaldi’s Orlando furioso (Bradamante) in Amsterdam and L’Italiana in Algeri (Isabella) at the Teatro Regio in Torino.
She recorded operas by Cimarosa, Rossini, Donizetti, Mayr, Mozart (La finta Parigina, I pazzi per progetto, Werther, La pietra del paragone, Torvaldo e Dorliska, Ciro in Babilonia, Giovanna d’Arco, Il viaggio a Reims, Le nozze di Figaro, Petite Messe Solennelle, Maometto II in two different editions).
